Saturday, August 12th—Today is Water Sports! After a quick breakfast, we had an extended duty period. Campers and counsellors worked hard to make camp ship-shape. Following Tub and Inspection, we had a quick and efficient lunch, a short rest, and we went to the waterfront for Water Sports. There were exhibition crew races, war canoe, sailing, obstacle races, swimming, canoe tilts, and many other fun spectacles. The best part of Water Sports, though, was getting to see our guests and eating lots of cookies at Eastbourne. After that, guests got to hear short versions of this year’s Tree Talks, watch the Glade Play, Arsenic and Old Lace, have dinner at Mem Hall, and watch the Theater Play, The Importance of Being Earnest. After the final play was over, Jake Matthai lit the bonfire in the shape of a “P17,” and we sang our favorite camp songs. Spencer Campbell played Taps for our guests before they departed for the night, and we headed to Baird Hall for a final slide show and award ceremony. Bo Turnage was awarded Mr. Teddy’s Cup, Samy Dilley was awarded the Moran Cup, and Carlos Davis and Peter Denious were awarded the cup for Most Faithful Boy. We then headed down to our dorms where we had our final Circle of the summer.
