For our first normal Sunday of the summer, we woke up to clear and crisp weather. After our usual Sunday morning routine and inspection, we lined up for Chapel. Mr. Michael delivered an eloquent Chapel Talk called “Lessons from the Natural World”, much of which applied to the upcoming expeditions. The main themes consisted of the beauty of nature and our responsibility of preserving it, dependency towards each other as a community, and being comfortable being uncomfortable. After a tasty Sunday luncheon, we had our first camper meeting of the year. The camp officers were elected: Henry Powell as President, Clay Meredith for Vice-President, Elliott Randolph for Secretary, and Wyatt Winstead for Grand Bouncer. After some time packing for tomorrow’s departure on expeditions, we spent a beautiful evening at the Waterfront. We had a cookout, followed by Singing at the Bathhouse, while enjoying the colorful and mellow sunset on the lake. This was then followed by circles in the dorms. We then went to bed, after an exciting yet restful Sunday, filled with apprehensive excitement for our departure tomorrow for a week in the woods!
