Thursday, August 11th — On the warm morning of August 11th, camp woke up at 7:30 for some very refreshing showers. Everyone gave Conway and Mr. Vinnie firm handshakes and the promise that they had brushed their teeth and washed their hands. The morning meal was leftovers from the previous day (16-year-old breakfast). The duty period was very efficient in preparation for Water Sports Weekend. Rich DeSalvo posted the list for Water Sports events, and there were practice runs for some events in the morning. Aidan Biglow and Peter Denious played in the senior singles tennis final with Peter winning. The day was a scorcher, so most campers went in for soak. Lunch was very good, followed by a much-needed rest. In the afternoon, there was a HUGE canoeing specie to the head of the lake. Final touches were put on the bonfire, which is shaped to look like the Lake Newfound octopus. Finally, after dinner, the time had arrived for the Theater Play, Fools by Neil Simon. Olivier Bijoux made an excellent villain. After that, we had prayers and the day came to an end, with the same firm handshake and promise we made earlier that day. Then, off to sleep. All in all, it was a very hot and good day.
