Tuesday, June 27th — Today we awoke to a stormy, 54° morning, but we took our usual morning showers anyway. They were invigorating! In the morning we had a jam-packed lineup of activities, highlighted by a new beloved tradition on Hobbs Field: the Senior League Combine. The senior league captains who were appointed that morning—Alex Horvat, Stone Harris, Carlos Davis, and Spencer Campbell—all got to scrutinize their potential draft picks as they performed a variety of fielding, running, and batting drills. In the afternoon, Jack Reigeluth led a canoeing specie to the Bristol Gorge for some whitewater practice, and many new boys swam their half-miles in, of course, no time at all. Before dinner we had skit rehearsal, and Mem Hall conversation grew giddy as skit-writing enthusiasm bubbled over from the hour before. For campfire, Mr. Vinnie read us “Initiating Ole,” and we went to bed amidst a cool rainy night.
